Children under the age of 5 may not travel unaccompanied. A person of at least 16 years old must accompany these younger travellers.
Only the following forms of identification will be accepted to permit the carriage of the individuals whose names appear on a reservation.
- For children between 16 and 18 years, a South African National Green Identification Book (or a certified copy thereof that is no older than 3 months) or a South African National Identification Card (or a physical certified copy thereof that is no older than 3 months)
- Valid International/National Passports (including emergency / temporary travel documents – e.g. asylum, Red Cross, or International Organisation for Migration (IOM) papers).
- Original birth certificates, abridged or unabridged; a digital copy of the birth certificate or a physically certified copy that is no older than 3 months. Please be aware that birth certificates will not be accepted for anyone 18 years or older.
- Temporary identification documents are permitted provided they are accompanied by an affidavit that is no older than three months.
Failure to present identification for each passenger, including minors and infants, as outlined above, will result in a denied boarding.
